Since beginning her practice in 2003, Dr. Nina Ahuja has established herself as an accomplished surgeon, award-winning educator, national leader and advocate, bestselling author, certified health executive, and certified emotional intelligence and mental performance coach. She is the founder of Docs in Leadership and the creator and host of MindfulMed.
Dr. Ahuja is deeply committed to supporting both emerging and established healthcare professionals, educators, and leaders. She draws on her extensive experience in academic and clinical leadership, surgical practice, and curriculum development to create innovative and evidence-based programs that transform and inspire. Through MindfulMed, she leverages her unique expertise while continuing active leadership roles, including Chair of the Council on Advocacy at the Canadian Ophthalmological Society, National Specialty Certification Examiner and Standards of Training Evaluator for the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada, and Board Member at St. Joseph's Healthcare Foundation. Her previous leadership roles include President of the Association of Canadian University Professors of Ophthalmology, President of the Medical Staff Association at St. Joseph’s Healthcare Hamilton, Academic Division Chair for Ophthalmology, and Residency Program Director at McMaster University.
Having faced the challenges of medical school herself, Dr. Ahuja understands the intense pressures of medical education and the journey to building a fulfilling career. Her mission is to help emerging and advancing healthcare professionals build emotional resilience, well-being, and impactful leadership skills through mentorship, and neuroscience-based emotional intelligence. Dr. Ahuja is dedicated to enhancing their personal and professional lives, and in turn supporting excellence in patient care.
